I bought my first pair of Keen's Targhee II Mids about 18 months ago while on vacation. Brand new, no time to break in, I hiked miles and miles and these hikers never gave me a problem. It was love at first bunion, I have searched high and low for another pair, just to have a spare, with no luck until now. I wear these more than I have ever worn any other shoe. The fit is super, and I actually love to put them on and start walking.

"I bought these boots 2 weeks before I went to Peru. I was bad and should have gotten them earlier to break them in, but surprisingly the boots were extremely comfortable. The boots didn't give me any blisters when I trekked the 26-mile Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! The toe boxes are wide and comfortable, so while my friends complained about their toes hitting the front of their boots from going down the mountain, I had no trouble. We got rained on while on the Trail and these boots were fine-dried up really fast and my socks stayed dry. I did slip a few times on some rocks in the rain, but other than that I didn't have any trouble (the Trail is very rugged-rocks, dirt, grass, everything...).

I have become an occasional hiker, someone who'll hit a moderate or strenuous trail every once in a while. I found that my tennis shoes just weren't cutting it - not enough traction or protection when going over big rocks. I did research, trying to find GOOD hiking shoes for women, and came across these. This model had good reviews on many sites on the internet, including REI.com.
