"I work in a cardiac operating room and I am on my feet anywhere from 8 to 16 hours a day. I have had multiple surgeries on my left knee and ankle due to high school sports injuries. After having ankle and knee pain for twenty years I decided to try the shape-ups. I now can stand all day without pain in the evening. The shoes seem make you properly align your ankle, knee and hip and reduce joint stress. The benefits as far as toning legs is also there, but that is a different review. These shoes have been a great help in relieving my arthritis pain. I highly recommend them if you have foot, ankle, or knee pain."

"The Sketchers Shape-ups are similar to the MBT shoes in that they want you to roll your foot as you walk. The MBT was the first to design this type of shoe, and apparently, they're becoming more popular bringing Sketchers and Rebok into the mix. But there's a difference when walking in an MBT and a Sketchers. I have both. And it's hard to tell which is better. But I think the Sketchers design might create a more natural walk because of the heel design. The Sketchers are a little tighter than the MBT shoes for the same size. I will have to try the Sketchers a bit longer to see if walking in them is better than the MBT. But both are good shoes."

"In May I had a bad fall which caused me to shatter my calcaneus (heel bone). I had surgery which required 1 plate and 7 screws. During the healing period most of my muscles in my leg had deteriorated. I had heard from other "heelies" that the MBT shoes were best for comfort and rehabilitation. The only problem was they were too expensive and not very attractive. I came across some glowing reviews of the Shapeups claiming that they were better than the MBT shoes for half the price. I have to say my leg muscles are much stronger and I am walking almost normal. These shoes have been great and I would recommend them to any body recovering from foot/leg surgery as well as anyone else. These shoes are great!"
