They were part of a regional release, in which each city's version of the Air Jordan 22 (XXII) was only released in that city. The Air Jordan 22 (XXII) was inspired by the F-22 Raptor Strike Fighter. When you look at the F-22 Raptor you see the sharp aerodynamic cuts that can cut through the air like ice. Some of these characteristics of the F-22 can be seen on the Air Jordan 22 (XXII). This particular edition features the official team colors of the Detroit Pistons, with a white, blue, and red colorway. The side panels feature the Detroit logo written out in small font, along with a red outline of the skyline. Other features include a strap around the ankle area, phylon midsole, as well as an improved and color coded version of the IPS (Independent Podular Suspension) system, previously seen on other models.They allow the athlete to choose his cushioning for each pod with either a responsive, double stacked Zoom Air pod, or a shock absorbing encapsulated air. In addition to the custom fit cushioning the IPS provides, the phylon midsole provides extra cushioning without adding extra weight.

"This shoe was recommended for heel pain/Plantar Fasciitis so I bought a pair. There isn't anything I haven't tried to help my heel pain. Nothing worked. So I plowed through all my different orthotics and found the "Phase 4" orthotics that are about 5 years old. I took out the foam inserts and put in the orthotics and I HAVE NO MORE HEEL PAIN. I can't believe I am finally able to go out and walk again without any pain. For some reason, these inserts seem to suspend my heel so it doesn't touch anything. This is the perfect combination of shoe and insert that has ended my pain. The orthotics can be very hard to adjust to at first, but well worth the trouble. Highly recommend these products together."

"My son is develmenty delayed, and has problems with walking, and has problems with his ankles. His shoes has always hurt him, and these sneakers, are very comfortable. They are the best walking shoes he has ever had. They were comfortable, the first time he put them on, and never had to break them in. He absolutely loves them. Any one who has a devolepment problem should buy this sneaker right away.Not to mention, they are a great price, for such a great sneaker. "Disappointed in the comfort! These shoes look pretty good in black but, after having worn them for a good while now, I realize that they aren't too comfortable. I walk and stand on concrete floors at work on 12 hr. shifts and I'm telling you, they hurt the bottom of my feet after just a few hours. I hope to have better results with my new Brooks Addiction Walkers in the 09' version. Since I buy shoes based on customer reviews, I had to be honest about the Nike Air Monarch III's."

"Supportive and comfortable shoe for running and walking. Lots of cushioning in the heel. Good arch support. Fun color combination and and patent leather trim (not obnoxious). I won't say that they fit my feet perfectly (arch is set a little far back for me), but they were the best of the 20 or so pairs I tried. Definitely wider in the toe box than some other Nike styles (which I like) and the rest of the shoe is true to width."

"I am very happy with this shoe. I have big feet and I ordered the 11 wide and it has enough room in the toe box not to pinch my feet. The arch support hits my foot in the right spot. I tried Saucony first and the arch was in the wrong place. I was looking for a shoe with a lot of cushioning because I use it to walk a 3 mile loop on pavement. This shoe has a very bouncy feel that I like."
